Features for organizing Windows files.

SortSentry runs your rules on the personal folders you choose. Processing stays local, with a preview and a record you can inspect before and after file actions.

Rules based on file properties

Match extension, name, size in bytes or age since last modification in days. Conditions within a rule use AND. Rules run from top to bottom; the first match determines the action.

Move, rename and quarantine

Move files to a destination, rename them with a pattern or set them aside in the app’s local quarantine. Existing destination names receive a numeric suffix; old files are not overwritten.

Preview destinations

See matching files and proposed paths without moving anything. New users start in preview and confirm before turning on organization.

Local history and undo

Activity stores actions in a local SQLite journal. Search the history and undo when the recorded file is available, unchanged and its original location is empty. For several actions, start with the newest.

Watched folders

Add personal folders, toggle each folder and pause monitoring. Closing the window keeps the app in the tray; Quit stops the process. Windows startup is optional.

Pro regex and schedules

Pro adds unlimited active rules, regular expression conditions and daily/weekly schedules. Schedules use local time and require SortSentry to be running.

Destination and name patterns

Tokens such as {year}, {month}, {name} and {ext} help keep names and folders consistent. A rename pattern can be {name}_{date:yyyyMMdd}.{ext}. Include the extension you need and inspect the result in preview.

Limits to keep in mind

Monitoring does not automatically include subfolders. Temporary files, unfinished downloads, system files, linked paths and online-only files are skipped. System folders, whole drives and network paths are not supported watched locations. Undo has conditions and is not a replacement for a backup.

Quarantine uses local app storage. Restore files you want to keep before uninstalling or removing app data.
